Background:
QuickSlides is a suite of tools by Communicast, Inc.
for rapidly creating interactive exercises and
content for both
synchronous and on-demand web events. QuickSlide
activities are created using templates, and because
they are tied to a database, exercise results and
responses
can be displayed in a variety of ways during
a virtual classroom event, as well as after
the session for review and reporting purposes. You
can create an entire library of QuickSlides
for
regular
use
in multiple web conferences.
About
"Pro/Con":
Using the "Pro/Con" Quickslides template, the
facilitator posts an open-ended question, case study
or scenario. The participant screen includes two areas
for
typed
responses
-- a "pro"
field and a "con" field. Participants can post countering
viewpoints based on the issue at hand. Once submitted,
the facilitator publishes all or selected participant
responses (either
anonymously
or
with names), or just the cons or pro responses.
Unlimited
responses
(even those from previous sessions) can be published
and republished during the current session, or published
later in future sessions. The simple tool helps foster
instant discussion and collaboration, and allows facilitators
to efficiently expose
a controversial or
complex subject for meaningful discussion and analysis
by a group of learners.
